  • edad menor de 17 años (a veces este umbral se establece más alto porque el criterio aquí es el estado de desarrollo óseo, no la edad per se);
  • osteoporosis avanzada;
  • trastornos hormonales no regulados o diabetes no controlada;

    Are implants stronger than teeth? ›

    The bite strength of a dental implant is generally 80- to 90-percent the strength of a natural tooth. If you've lived with dentures, bridges, or weak/diseased teeth for any period, you understand the importance of a firm bite.

    Are dental implants easier on top or bottom? ›

    The success rate for upper jaw implants is a little lower because the upper jaw is less dense than the lower jaw. This makes implantation more difficult for the oral surgeon, and more difficult for osseointegration (the process where the implant integrates with the jaw bone) to take place.

    Can dental implants be done in one day? ›

    Luckily, one-day implants are possible to be fitted in just a day, and they can allow you to avoid the long and arduous traditional implant process. This will allow you to skip the lengthy osseointegration and wound healing process, as well as the several months of waiting in between.

    How do you sleep after a dental implant? ›

    Following oral surgery, we recommend that you sleep with your head and shoulders propped up above your heart level. Add an extra pillow or two to your bed or to the place where you will be resting. If you have a recliner, this is also an excellent way to keep your head elevated.

    How long after dental implants can I eat? ›

    Typically, it takes about one week for patients to return to regular eating habits after dental implant surgery. But if you are a fast healer, you may be able to return to some solid (but not firm or crunchy) foods 24 – 48 hours after surgery. Food consumed during healing should still be easy to chew.
